Darren Clarke, who famously told me that three years would be the minimum time to shoot a par round, has offered some superb (and a LOT more postive!) advice to a new friend of mine, Richard Asher, from South Africa. I’m going to do a much longer post about Richard soon but I just wanted to draw your attention to what Clarke said to Asher when asked about his challenge:
>
Basically Clarke is very doubtful but he says “the only way you could possibly do it is spending 90% of the first six months chipping and putting”
He maintains that the pros spend 75% of their time chipping and putting. A friend of mine, who followed Clarke for several weeks as part of a BBC program, would bear this out to be true.
There is absolute genius contained within that one line. Sure it would be pretty tough but it would be, without a shadow of a doubt (based on my own experience) the easiest way, to drastically drop scores.
That’s why the Break Par Blueprint program focuses so heavily on short game and helping you stick at it. It also focuses HARD on making your short game practice FUN!
There are much greater “nature versus nurture” questions raised in this too which I’d like to again deal with soon.
Regards
John
P.S. Don’t forget the Break Par Blueprint program carries a full and unconditional money back guarantee. Why not take the plunge to see what I learned during my challenge and if you’re not happy, for any reason at all, I’ll gladly give you your money back.

WoW!! Just spectacular.
Thank you for introducing us to an ‘INTERESTING’ hole!! I would be interested to know why so few ‘Tour Players’ have actually played this hole &/or why it is not very well known in golf circles. Could it be that many HAVE played it but want to keep their actual scores there quiet?
Again – Thanks
Grahame.
Have ordered from Amazon ‘Dream On’ as a starter.
Looking forward to achieving great things at age 76 !

Great stuff John – I hope you enjoy it.
Currently 9 handicap, plan to drop to scratch in 4 months and qualify for the national tour here.
doable, not easy.
